Retaining Wall Gallery
Many buildings require some form of soil retention.  Unfortunately, most installation companies fail to take the proper engineering recommendations into consideration.  Lizer never takes short cuts.  In fact, we always go one step further to ensure a lifetime of stability and beauty.  The following slides are examples of various types of walls that we have installed.  We hope you enjoy them.

Elevated Elegance
This Pre-cast unit wall serves many purposes.  First, it retains the soil as necessary to be able to have door access from the top floor and provide an area for a patio.  Second, it  provides the structure to be able to install a decorative railing system.  Finally, the materials can be used to build an outdoor kitchen area that unifies the landscape.

Weathered Edge Quarry Stone
Limestone is a natural choice for retaining walls in Northeast Wisconsin because it is native to the region.  Using large quarried slabs gives a bold look that can provide deep shadow lines.  This weathered edge rock provides a smooth look that is accentuated by natural mineral staining.

Rustic Edged Quarry Stone
This wall is the first "new" sea wall permitted in Wisconsin in over two years.  We worked diligently with the WDNR to develop a plan that provides considerations for native plants, provides animal access to the upper areas of the property, and abides by the strict guidelines set forth by  the WDNR Shoreland Preservation Act.

Pre-Cast Block - Curved Stairway
When you desire elegance in the landscape, pre-cast unit walls provide versatility with the crisp, clean lines that will blend into the architectural elements of your property.  These steps allow the users to navigate the steep slope without fear of slipping while the wall acts as a handrail for support.

Snapped Edge Quarry Stone
This slide shows a wildlife ramp that provides native animals with access to and from the shoreline.  Coined "the turtle ramp" by the owners, this ramp also provides the owner with easy access without navigating stairs.  This is now a precedent requirement for installing any new sea walls in Wisconsin.

8" Chilton Dry-Stacked Stone
It is rare, in our climate, to use mortar in stone walls.  Because of freezing, we choose to install walls using the classic dry stacked method.  Each stone is hand selected and hewn to fit snuggly with its adjacent stones.  This can be a time consuming process, but as you can see, the results are stunning.

Free Standing Bay Stone Cobble
This client was looking for a traditional look while maintaining privacy.  By installing a 36" high cobble wall, we were able to meet these goals.  This wall is reminiscent of the old farm field tailing walls that you find throughout northern Wisconsin, Door County, and many other parts of the Midwest.

Unsorted Bay Stone Cobble
Unlike "glacial boulder" walls, these walls use many different sizes of rock to create a tightly woven stone wall.  This type of wall is more stable and will resist the forces of nature, maintaining its aesthetic appearance.  This wall is holding up a large patio and protecting the home foundation from frost action.

Free Standing Unit Seat Wall
Pre-cast unit walls install quickly and provide many added benefits to a patio area.  At only 18" tall, they are ideal for providing casual seating.  They also enclose the patio lessening wind, and providing the feel of privacy.  As shown above, these wall can have decorative columns added to frame the walls for added elegance.
